Oasis Vita-Drops can be added to the food and/or drinking water, whichever is more appropriate and accepted by the bird. The preferred method of using Oasis® Vita-Drops is to add the concentrated liquid supplement to the bird's daily drinking water (whenever possible, use a sanitary water bottle instead of an open water dish, which can be easily contaminated with debris). However, birds fed high-moisture foods such as fresh fruits or vegetables may consume a minimal amount of their drinking water, in which case the vitamins may be applied directly to their food.
For parakeets, cockatiels, budgies and small hook bill birds' drinking water - 1 drop per each ounce of water:
Example:4 drops to each 4oz . of drinking water.
To insure freshness, change the water at least every 1 to 3 days.
For canaries, finches and waxbills and similar birds' drinking water - 1 drop per two ounces of water:
Example:2 drops to each 4oz . of drinking water.
To insure freshness, change the water at least every 1 to 3 days.
For Food: Randomly scatter 1 or 2 drops of vita-drops directly onto the surface of the food every 1 to 3 days. If adding to seed, stir the 1 or 2 drops into about 1 ounce of seed and mix, then layer the fortified seed on top of the bird's feed dish. Check to be sure the vitamized seed has been consumed within 24 hours. If the bird refuses to eat the fortified seed, feed the usual plain seed diet for 3 days and try again. Birds are creatures of habit, and may not accept the new seed mixture immediately. It is very important that the bird not go without food by refusing to eat the fortified seed.
Use 1 1/2 to 2 times the dosage listed for young, aged, or ailing birds. If the bird is ill or stressed and not drinking water, put 1 drop of Vita-Drops directly into beak followed by 0.6mL water. Seek the advice of a qualified avian veterinarian if you think your bird is ill. Occasional excess dosages should cause no ill effect. Store Oasis Vita-Drops in a cool dry place. Vita-Drops may be refrigerated; DO NOT FREEZE.
